Hilo Hawaii 2011

My first travel nurse assignment. Hilo, Hawaii

Hubby and I spent 13 weeks in Beautiful Hawaii on the Big Island and made some life long friends.

Beyond the deep blue ocean, the emerald valleys and golden sands, the Islands of Aloha sets it apart from the rest of the world. From the beauty of the hula to the power of an active volcano. This switchback hike on North shore was well worth the black sands and deep blue ocean that waited below.

Hilo’s Farmers Market is known as one of the best open markets in Hawaii. You can never tell what you’ll find at this colorful market, but it’s safe to say you’ll probably see things you’ve never seen before.

The landscape changes before your eyes at Volcanoes National Park. This is the home of Kilauea volcano, one of the most active volcanoes on earth. A chance to witness the process of creation and also destruction makes this one of the most popular visitor attractions in Hawaii and a sacred place for Native Hawaiians.
